Veterans who receive disability compensation and benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) may not know that disability pay rates change each year based on the cost of living in the United States. When veterans rely on their disability compensation to pay bills, it is important that they know and understand how those VA disability pay rates will change in 2026.
The cost-of-living increase applied to veteran disability benefits is based on the Social Security Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) and in the next year, the expected increase to VA disability pay rates is 2.5%. The official cost-of-living adjustment to VA disability pay rates will be announced on December 1, 2025 and veterans will see the increased compensation in January 2025.
VA Benefits Attorneys is here to help veterans with their disability claims and pay — and to keep veterans up to date, we have created disability pay rate charts that reflect the anticipated 2.5% COLA increase in the monthly pay rates.
