Each year, government-supported programs – like disability pay from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) – are updated to account for the cost of living in the United States. This is known as a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) and can have a significant impact on the financial stability of disabled veterans across the country. The cost-of-living increase in 2024 is expected to be 3.2% for disabled veterans and others affected by the change. Final increases to the VA disability pay rates in 2024 will be confirmed on December 1, 2023.
To help veterans understand how this will impact their monthly disability compensation, VA Benefits Attorneys has created a series of disability pay rate charts with the 3.2% COLA increase factored into the monthly pay rates.
